    Transfer of DNA into Plant Cells with the Ti-Plasmid as a Vector

    A. tumefaciens strains induce tumors (crown galls) on a wide range of dicotyledonous plants (1). These tumors contain stably transformed — genetically altered — cells that are selfproliferating and graftable (2).
