Selected Papers from the 13th Asian Computational Fluid Dynamics Conference (ACFD2022)

This special issue of International Journal of Aeronautical and Space Sciences (IJASS) comprises a set of papers presented in the 13th Asian Computational Fluid Dynamics Conference (ACFD 2022). ACFD 2022 was held on Oct. 16th – 19th, 2022, at Jeju Shinhwa World, located in Jeju Island, Republic of Korea. The first ACFD Conference was held in Hong Kong in 1996, and it has been working as an international platform to exchange ideas, push the boundaries of CFD research, and gathering the works worldwide. Over the years, the conference has been held in various Asian countries, including Japan, India, China, Korea, and Taiwan. The 13th ACFD Conference, originally scheduled for 2020, had to be postponed to 2022 in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the importance of CFD increases along with the new emerging research areas such as artificial intelligence, digital twin technologies, urban air mobility, and hypersonic vehicles, the diversity of the ACFD researches continues to grow. The technical program of ACFD 2022 consists of 4 plenary speeches, 12 invited talks, 200 oral presentations, and 20 poster presentations. The event attracted a sizable number of researchers, with a total of 340 attendees from 16 countries.

The manuscripts included in this special issue underwent rigorous and thorough review processes conducted by the ACFD and IJASS. Out of numerous submissions, 14 manuscripts were selected for the ACFD 2022 – IJASS special issue through the meticulous review process. Each of the selected papers offers meaningful progress and insights into the current trends and advancements in CFD, providing readers with a comprehensive overview of the diverse topics discussed at ACFD 2022.
