Abstract
There are various types of Collectors used in India, all have their merits and demerits and accordingly, they have their respective applications. The collector plates are primarily consisting of fin section to receive solar insolation. They also have tubes or passages within the fins to carry heating fluids. There are various combinations of fins and tubes, they may be of similar or dissimilar metals. Here specific investigations are carried out for copper tube insert Aluminium Roll Bond Panels. By design optimisation, if efficient collectors are manufactured, less collector area per system will be required, thereby saving not only the cost but also the overall volume of the solar system and the space is saved thereby.
