Zusammenfassung
Eine Amputation sollte als erster Baustein in der Rehabilitation des Patienten erachtet werden, bei dem eine anderweitige Extremitäten erhaltende funktionelle Rekonstruktion nicht in Frage kommt (Pinzur et al. 2007). Die frühe und enge Zusammenarbeit mit dem für die Prothesenversorgung kompetenten Orthopädiemechaniker, den Physiotherapeuten der Klinik und die Aufnahme einer Gangschulung sowie einer für den jeweiligen Patienten geeigneten frühestmöglichen postoperativen Rehabilitation sind essentielle Bausteine für den Erfolg, also die Option, den Betroffenen wieder auf die „Beine“ und nicht in den Rollstuhl oder zu den permanenten Gehhilfen zu bringen.
