Abstract
Noninvasive ventilation (NIV) is frequently used in patients with acute respiratory failure (ARF). The success rate of NIV is dependent on multiple factors such as; underlying cause of ARF, selection of proper patient, patient’s compliance and clinician’s expertise. Also, in a subgroup of patients, despite an initial improvement, a late failure may occur. Clinicians should evaluate patients for the risk factors and closely monitor in order to early detect NIV failure.
