1 Signs and Symptoms

Painless raised area of skin with a shiny appearance with small blood vessels. Ulceration may appear, in some cases may be visually indistinguishable from other tumors . Gradual onset and progression, although distant spread in less common it can invade adjacent structures. Additional signs can be noticed as further anatomical structures are involved (e.g., ptosis, paresthesia or anesthesia, madarosis, distortion of tissue architecture)

2 Differential Diagnosis

Malignant skin tumors mainly squamous cell carcinoma but also sebaceous cell carcinoma. Premalignant skin lesions (actinic keratosis, Keratoacanthoma, Bowen’s disease) and inflammatory eyelid lesions (chalazion, chronic infection).

3 Diagnosis

Clinical characteristics and radiologic findings. MRI of orbit in STIR is the radiologic study of choice, if unavailable CT of orbits with contrast should be done. Diagnosis confirmed by tissue biopsy.
