1 Signs and Symptoms
Painless raised area of skin with a shiny appearance with small blood vessels. Ulceration may appear, in some cases may visually indistinguishable from other tumors. Gradual onset and progression, although distant spread in less common it can invade adjacent structures. Additional sign can be noticed as furthers anatomical structures are involved (e.g., ptosis, paresthesia or anesthesia, madarosis, distortion of tissue architecture)
2 Differential Diagnosis
Malignant skin tumors mainly squamous cell carcinoma but also sebaceous cell carcinoma. Premalignant skin lesions (actinic keratosis, Keratoacanthoma, Bowen’s disease) and inflammatory eyelid lesions (chalazion, chronic infection).
3 Diagnosis
Clinical characteristics and radiologic findings. MRI of orbit in STIR is the radiologic study of choice, if unavailable CT of orbits with contrast should be done. Diagnosis confirmed by tissue biopsy.
4 Treatment
Complete surgical excision with free margins is considered...
