Zusammenfassung

Die spezifische intraoperative Visualisierung hirneigener Tumoren ist mit Aminolävulinsäure (ALA) erstmals praktikabel geworden. Der Stellenwert der Methode ist bei malignen Gliomen in Form verlängerter Überlebenszeit nachgewiesen und bleibt auch unter moderner adjuvanter Therapie erhalten. Mittlerweile stellt sich zum einen die Frage nach der Anwendung auch bei intermediären oder niedriggradigen Tumoren. Aktuelle Daten bieten eine Unterstützung bei der Einschätzung des Nutzens auch bei Tumoren, die nicht die klassischen Merkmale des malignen Glioms aufweisen. Zum anderen ergibt sich mit der Anwendung von Aminolävulinsäure als Sensibilisator für eine photodynamische Therapie ein neues therapeutisches Feld.
