Abstract

Unilateral or bilateral absence of testicular tissue in genetic males is called anochia. Anorchia has to be differentiated from partial or complete testicular atrophy, e.g. following torsion of orchitis, when, at least histologically, degenerated remains of a male gonad can be found. Anorchia can be congenital of acquired.
