Effect of aegirite concentrate on the properties of firebrick

Refractories Aims and scope

Conclusions

We examined the possibility of obtaining a new refractory material based on chamotte containing additions of aegirite concentrate — a waste product from the processing of apatite-nepheline ores at the Apatit Production Association.

Some physicochemical and strength properties of the new chamotte-aegirite refractories were investigated.

The benefits and range of uses of these refractories can be finally determined after completion of large-scale industrial trials in various furnaces in the refractories industry.
