Pass design of section is the design and calculation for a series of passes in order to obtain the product with the required cross-section shape, dimension, and performance through steel ingot or billet by several passes rolling. Pass design of section includes three aspects. (1) Groove design. According to the billet, the shape and size of cross section for finished products and the requirements for properties of product, pass section system, rolling pass and the reduction of each pass, as well as the shape section and size of each pass can be determined. (2) Roll section design, also called roll-arranging. The distribution of pass design on each stand and the configuration on the roll can be determined to ensure the normal rolling process, convenient operation, good quality of the product, and higher output according to the designed cross-section pass shape.
