Zusammenfassung
Sport ist ein kommerziell wichtiger Inhalt beinahe aller Verbreitungsmedien – von der Presse über Fernsehen bis hin zu Social Media. Darüber hinaus bildet er in der Art und Weise, wie er Raum und Zeit, Wissen und Emotionen strukturiert, selbst mediale Operationen aus, die sich mit denen der Einzelmedien, die Sport zum Inhalt haben, verschränken. Die den Sport kennzeichnende öffentliche Beurteilung von Leistung trägt zudem zu einer kritischen Reflexion der Potenziale und Limitierungen von Medien bei. Deshalb wird Sport hier als ein Beispiel für solche sozialen und kulturellen Formen genutzt, die für Medientheorie von Interesse sind, weil sie über distinkte Medien hinweg zu einem Medien-Werden beitragen.
