In lieu of Stedman’s Medical Dictionary for the Health Professions and Nursing (2012, p. 625), feng shui is “an ancient Chinese belief system used to configure one’s living or work environment to promote health, happiness, and prosperity, by enhancement of energy flow (Chi); includes use of space, color, and order as factors in satisfaction.”

Aging in Place (see “Aging in Place”)

Until recent decades, feng shui has primarily been practiced in Eastern cultures. Now it is gaining widespread practice outside of Eastern countries. Feng shui has been popular in the USA since the mid-1970s. Today, feng shui can be examined within the Western sciences of quantum physics and environmental psychology in conjunction with practical applications for aging in place.
