Definition
Quality of life of Ariaal in Northern Kenya is a single study of subjective well-being among Ariaal pastoral nomads in Marsabit District, Kenya, using a modified version of the World Health Organization quality of life assessment (WHOQOL).

Quality of life was investigated among Ariaal pastoral nomads of Northern Kenya using the World Health Organization quality of life assessment (WHOQOL) to determine the impact of social support and physical status on subjective well-being in a population with a subsistence economy. We hypothesized that the increasing herd size, number of marriages, and social prestige with age among men might lead to an increase in perceptions of well-being. At the same time, declining physical status might be related to declines in well-being because of the importance of physical activity for subsistence activities. In addition, we compared subsets of nomadic and settled Ariaal men to explore the impact of settlement on quality of life.
