Correlation of Spray Ring Data for Gas Atomization of Liquid Metals

Abstract

A comparison has been made between the atomization characteristics of several liquid metals, gas-atomized by spray rings of various design. An approximate correlating equation is deduced for the particle mass median diameter, based on the available data from iron atomization trials and model experiments using tin and low melting point alloys.
