Summary

Among 396 patients with Crohn's disease, all patients —_n=65 — with an abnormal gastroduodenal X-ray were submitted to endoscopy with biopsy. Suggestive macroscopic lesions were found after X-ray in 13 patients, after endoscopy in 20 patients. Granuloma were found in 24 patients, using semi-serial sections of multiple biopsies. Overall, 8% of the patients had a macroscopic and/or pathologic involvement of the upper GI tract by Crohn's disease.
