Abstract
Spiculated periosteal reaction is most often seen in primary malignant bone tumors, however, occasionally it may occur in bone lesions of metastatic origin.
The purpose of this paper is to review six cases of metastatic bone cancer with spiculated periosteal reaction. Speculation about the mechanism of this periosteal reaction will be made and it is suggested that after forty years of age, bone metastasis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of lesions with perpendicular periosteal reactions.
