Zusammenfassung
Unter einem mathematischen Beweis versteht man die deduktive Herleitung eines mathematischen Satzes aus Axiomen und zuvor bereits bewiesenen Sätzen nach spezifizierten Schlussregeln. Axiome sind unbewiesene Aussagen, die man an den Anfang einer Theorie stellt. Modellhaft ist dieser axiomatisch-deduktive Aufbau einer mathematischen Theorie erstmals durch den griechischen Mathematiker Euklid in seinem Buch „Elemente“ (ca. 300 v. C.) realisiert worden.
