Themes from Beall

This topical collection celebrates the intellectual career of Jc Beall (O'Neill Family Professor of Philosophy, University of Notre Dame).

Beall is known for his extensive work on logic, truth, and paradox, as well as more recent projects in the philosophy of religion. There are also subtler themes running throughout his work, viz. an entrenched belief in the value of precise models and the conviction that we can improve our understanding of recalcitrant phenomena by rejecting orthodox model-building assumptions. For these reasons, Beall's work evinces a noteworthy blend of rigor and creativity. Beall also has a non-incidental connection with the Asian Journal of Philosophy since he served as a visiting Shinhan Professor at Yonsei University in 2018.

We welcome research papers that reflect on any aspects of Beall's work, develop his ideas in different directions, or critically address his views. Appropriate topics for this collection include, but are not limited to:

- logical pluralism

- deflationism about truth

- logical solutions to paradoxes

- paracomplete and paraconsistent logics

- analytic theology
