Abstract
In the realm of cybersecurity, social engineering refers to a broad spectrum of malicious activities accomplished through human interactions. It involves manipulating people into breaking standard security procedures and divulging confidential information. Social engineering is predicated on the attacker’s ability to exploit their target’s trust, leveraging human psychology rather than technical hacking techniques. This method of deception is particularly insidious because it targets a common vulnerability – the human tendency to trust.
