Negative Predictive Values

The probability that a person with a negative test result does not have the disease, condition, biomarker, or mutation (change) in the gene under consideration. The negative predictive value is a method of determining how accurate a particular test is, which is also known as net present value. Necrosis is characterized by many changes, including membrane rupture, membrane blebbing, mitochondrial enlargement, and cytoplasmic swelling (oncosis). Nucleus growth or contraction results in pyknosis, which is followed by nuclear breakdown into the cytoplasm (karyolysis).
