Metabolism is a term that comprises all the living reactions involved in maintaining the living state of the cells and the organisms. Metabolism in toxicology refers to the body’s ability to break down complex substances into simpler forms that are less hazardous or more easily eliminated through a process known as detoxification. Urine is the most typical route of excretion, but certain substances can also be expelled through feces, sweat, or even breath. While metabolism is good for hazardous chemicals, it can also diminish the advantages of a drug needed to aid in the recovery of an illness.
