Abstract

Sustainable growth is needed of the current age. The enormous production of automobiles in India is posing a threat to environment, economy and health of its residents. This paper aims to study the required initiatives to develop green manufacturing in automobile sector. The major changes needed to go ahead with the continuous rise of production of automobile are green plantation, proper use of energy, changes in design of several components of engine, switching to electrical vehicles, strict compliance of emission norms, making green supply chain and maximize use of renewable source of energy. The paper explores the steps taken by the automotive giants of India toward sustainable development of this industry.
