Abstract
Financial traits of individuals significantly influence their decisions concerning careers, including self-employment or entrepreneurship. Financial traits are comprised of multiple factors such as financial knowledge, financial attitude and behavior, and financial socialization. Some of these attributes are acquired informally, while some are learned formally. The main aim of this study is to test if the role of these financial traits on entrepreneurial intention differs based on gender or not. Based on a sample size of 438 university students from Saudi Arabia, the moderating role of gender was analyzed using multigroup analysis. The results show that gender influences just one of the six relationships – between financial knowledge and financial attitude. The findings of the study should benefit researchers, educational institutions, financial institutions, as well as policymakers who are striving to improve the rate of entrepreneurship.
