Abstract
Hanoi City has established a green corridor network in the Master Plan towards the year 2030 and with vision to the year 2050 Prime Minister (2011). However, the construction of such a green corridor network for the entire suburban area has not yet been in accordance with the natural conditions of Hanoi city. Hanoi city is characterized with a natural network made up of rivers, lakes, forests and mountains. The author proposes a number of adjustments for the green corridor network in the 2011 Master Plan for Hanoi with regard to an overall assessment of green belt and green corridor concepts in addition to some practical experiences of green belts learned from a few cities around the world, as well as the current state of the natural system of Hanoi City.
