Abstract

Restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM) causes impaired diastolic relaxation of the right, left, or both ventricles; however the systolic function is usually preserved until the advanced stage of the disease. Echocardiography is often the first mode of investigation; however, it cannot help with tissue characterization needed for the specific diagnosis of RCM. This chapter discusses various causes of RCM, their clinical presentation, and specific imaging features on CMR. It also briefly discusses endomyocardial fibrosis and general management strategy of RCM.
