Abstract

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is defined as abnormal left ventricular myocardial thickening without associated chamber dilatation, and in the absence of any other systemic disease-causing excess afterload. CMR plays a role in establishing the diagnosis, morphological assessment (defines the phenotype, maximum end-diastolic wall thickness, concomitant right ventricular involvement, assesses systolic anterior motion of mitral valve leaflet, mitral valve anomalies, papillary muscle anomalies), functional assessment, tissue characterization, detect complications, and prognostication.
