Role of Microbes in Sustainable Development

Abstract

The current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)-coronavirus-2 (CoV-2) has caused a global economic and healthcare crisis. The routes of transmission, signs and symptoms, incubation period, pathogenesis, and pathophysiology of the disease have been studied extensively. In such situations, autopsies remain important as they provide insight into the possible mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2 activity and the extent of organ involvement during infection. In this chapter, we describe the relationship between autopsy and COVID-19, autopsy findings in patients with COVID-19, the relationship between vaccinations and deaths, and biosafety.
