Ductile-brittle transition temperature is the temperature at which metallic materials undergo transition from a ductile state to a brittle state. It is represented by Tk, also known as plastic-brittle transition temperature, or brittle transition temperature. It is used to characterize the embrittlement tendency of metal materials. The magnitude of the tendency is generally determined by the impact test, but there are many test indexes which have not been finalized (see Strengthening of Metal). Impact test is a test to determine the ability of metal materials to resist impact loads, also known as impact ductility test, and is one of the basic methods for testing material mechanical performance. In the impact test, the energy consumed by breaking the sample is called impact energy (Ak), and its unit is Joule (J).
