Hygroscopic mineral material is a functional mineral material that, thanks to its moisture absorption/liberation property, is used to sense humidity changes in indoor space and automatically adjust indoor air humidity. The humidity adjusting ability is mainly derived from the material’s property that the pore structure and pores are able to absorb, retain, and desorb water molecules, without the need for any artificial energy source or mechanical equipment. The humidity adjusting ability of hygroscopic mineral material is closely related to its pore structure characteristics and specific surface area. Desirable pore size distribution and large pore volume render the storage space and adjusting potential to absorb water vapor and adjust humidity. Take diatomite, for example. Its equilibrium moisture absorption and equilibrium moisture liberation both increase as specific surface area increases and pore size decreases. And with greater pore volume in the microporous zone and mesoporous...
