Proceedings of the International Field Exploration and Development Conference 2022 (IFEDC 2022)

Abstract

The high-pressure gas injection pipeline of gas storage usually operate under a pressure of over 30 MPa. Once leakage occurs, explosive gas mixture will be formed in the air. When exposed to open flame, large-scale fire and vapor cloud explosion may occur, which may lead to serious consequences. To deal with the accidents caused by the high-pressure gas injection pipeline leakage, such as jet flame fire and vapor cloud explosion, taking the gas storage of Changqing Gas Field as an example, the paper establishes four accident models of leakage diffusion fire and explosion by using PHAST numerical simulation software and simulates the accident diffusion law of pipeline under the effect of 6 factors of different pipe diameters, temperature, pressure, leakage hole diameter, buried depth and leakage location. Hence, conclusions are drawn, including ①the strong-to-weak influence order of those six factors on accidents; ②the injury radius of spray fire explosion of different pipelines; ③the injury radius of vapor cloud explosion of different pipelines; ④the safety protection distance of high-pressure gas injection pipelines with different specifications based on the accident injury criterion. Meanwhile, the innovation of the paper is the establishment of the four accident models, the numerical simulation analysis on thermal radiation fire and explosion effect under different working conditions, obtained accident consequences and leakage diffusion law corresponding to the 6 factors, and the proposed safety protection distance of high-pressure gas injection pipeline. All of the above would provide a reference for the laying of high-pressure gas injection pipeline of domestic gas storage, the recognition of high consequence areas and the daily operation and maintenance.
