Abstract
This chapter analyses the electricity outlook of Türkiye and includes changes in the electricity market structure from a historical perspective, to prepare the ground for a comprehensive analysis which is carried at the sixth and seventh chapters. The main question addressed in this chapter is “what is the current outlook of Türkiye in electricity, and in electricity liberalisation?” In a nutshell, purpose of this chapter is to analyse Türkiye’s energy outlook in a concrete and concise manner; so, it is descriptive, rather than being argumentative. Hence, this chapter gives the reader an insight about statistical and general energy background of Türkiye, and reveals the indicators of stagnation in the liberalisation process.
