Abstract

Transcriptomics can provide a comprehensive understanding of gene expression profiles and regulatory mechanisms in cells or tissues. It has been widely utilized in various research fields. This chapter focuses on the applications of transcriptomics in secondary metabolism, stress resistance, growth and development, and functional gene mining of tea plants. These applications are crucial in exploring the mechanisms of important agronomic traits, innovating germplasm resources, and selecting new tea plant cultivars. This chapter aims to provide a reference for modern molecular breeding of tea plants by describing the main technical methods, principles, and progress of transcriptomics in tea plant research.
