Abstract

Microfinance is a strong tool for financial inclusion and poverty reduction across the globe. In Bangladesh, where many individuals are unbanked, microfinance institutions (MFIs) have altered financial services for disadvantaged communities. Small microfinance institutions have proven critical to narrowing the financial gap. Their ability to continue operations and reach the underserved depends on various factors, including corporate governance. This study looks at how corporate governance, sustainability, and outreach affect small Bangladeshi microfinance institutions.
