Abstract
Human error is regarded as a major cause of accidents. In this chapter, the definition of human error, the view of sociologists, psychologists and the interpretation in law is discussed. The way human error is dealt with in engineering and healthcare, especially in terms of an honest mistake is highlighted. The approach to human error in regulation is also discussed.
