Advances in Additive Manufacturing and Metal Joining

Abstract

Additive manufacturing has made tremendous improvement since its inception in the 1980s. Additive manufacturing (AM) is frequently known as 3D printing, which creates parts according to digitally fabricated 3D models layer upon layer. Rather than simply producing a tangible product, additive manufacturing emphasizes more on design and creativity. Initially, AM started as a rapid prototy** tool, which has expanded to include a wide range of technologies. This paper emphasizes more on fused deposition modeling AM technique as it is cost-effective, has a wide variety of processable materials, and can be utilized to expand small system. This review paper aims to sequentially conceptualize the process of fused deposition additive manufacturing technique and show some highlights that have led to its development, materials, challenges, and future trends.
