Abstract
Hypertension in pregnancy can be gestational or can occur in conjunction with toxemias of pregnancy, viz. preeclampsia and eclampsia or may be a chronic preexisting condition. Such hypertensive disorders can also be associated with myocardial systolic dysfunction, which is termed as peri-partum cardiomyopathy. Hypertension with features of cardiomyopathy was caused by a clinically undetected adrenal pheochromocytoma in a young primigravida, who presented with abruption placentae.
