Abstract

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as a regional grou** promoting economic, political, and security cooperation among its ten members (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam) has been a centre of geopolitical developments in recent past. ASEAN was founded in the midst of the Cold War between the US and the Soviet Union. Today, with the geopolitical balance tilting towards China, India as a major economy and one of the fastest growing economies, faces an unprecedented challenge to maintain its dominance in the region. The paper explores the initiatives taken by USA, China and India over the past to manage the relations with ASEAN and build scenarios for the future to not just manage the geopolitical balance but also to ensure comprehensive growth for the region.
