Abstract

In order to solve the problems of high toxicity, high risk and unstable gelation properties of conventional low temperature gel profile control system, a new low temperature organic gel profile control system using heterocyclic polyols as cross-linking agent was developed. The effects of temperature, salinity and pH regulator on gelation time and gel strength were studied. The plugging effect of profile control system on sand filled pipe was evaluated. The results showed that the system could be glued at 10–50 ℃ and had a salinity tolerance of 10000 mg/L. All factors had significant effects on gelation time and gel strength. The system has good plugging effect, and the plugging rate of sand filled pipe can reach 98%. The new gel system provides a safe and environment-friendly technology choice for low temperature oilfield profile control, and has good application potential.
