Abstract
Paleogene glutenite reservoir in Niudong area, is a near source deposit formed under the background of an alluvial fan - braided river delta. It is a complex of mudstone and glutenite. The sand bodies are poorly sorted with low compositional maturity and high shale content. Due to the high shale content, high gamma debris and variable grain size, it is difficult to identify effective reservoir and gas layer by conventional logging methods. This paper proposes a new comprehensive logging identification method, intending to solve the difficulties on identification of lithology and low resistance gas zone of low compositional maturity sandstone. Firstly, M-N index crossplot is used to identify lithology, and NDI to calculate shale content. Then NDI - compensated density crossplot is used to identify the effective reservoir. Finally, neutron porosity – gas-bearing index crossplot is used for identification of gas zone, and the acoustic – resistivity envelope for precise identification and evaluation. The identification accuracy of lithology, reservoir and gas zone has been significantly improved compared to traditional methods.
