Abstract
This chapter focusses solely on India—the world’s largest democracy—and how its 1.4 billion people behaved, reacted and suffered from March to July 2021, during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. Why did millions of hapless Indian people fall to the pandemic in this relatively young democracy? What was its government doing when the people were hopelessly looking for health care and protection against the coronavirus? What went wrong after its government claimed victory over the pandemic after the first wave of the pandemic? After ship** vaccines to half of the world and claiming to be the saviour of the world, why did the pharmaceutical powerhouse of the world have to attract donations of medical equipment, including oxygen and ventilators, from scores of countries?
