Abstract

Emotional intelligence is a mental ability affecting perception and attitude, ultimately affecting behavioral intention. Based on the questionnaire survey of 312 hotel employees, this paper makes an empirical study on the relationship between hotel employees’ emotional intelligence, job burnout and turnover intention. This study concluded a negative correlation between emotional intelligence and turnover intention, a positive correlation between job burnout and turnover intention and moderating effects of job burnout in the process of turnover decision-making. By verifying theoretical assumptions, in response to the plight of the hotel industry after the outbreak of COVID 19, this paper highlights relevant empirical strategies to improve employees’ emotional intelligence, reduce their job burnout, finally it may reduce the turnover rate of employees in the hotel industry.
