Abstract

OFDM is a multi carrier transmission technology widely used in various communication systems, such as 5G communication, underwater acoustic communication, power line communication and WLAN communication. However, OFDM technology itself has some shortcomings, such as high peak-to-average power ratio, very sensitive to the frequency deviation of the system, etc., Taking VHF data exchange system (VDES) as the research background, aiming at the load problem of existing data link, this paper proposes to integrate high-speed transmission technology orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and index technology into VDES system, and proposes a digital OFDM index modulation method to improve the performance and communication efficiency of vdes system. Through the physical layer simulation modeling, different digital index modulation schemes are used to simulate the BER performance of real data communication on the sea, and the performance of its communication system is simulated and analyzed. The results show that compared with traditional OFDM, this method can achieve lower bit error rate and effectively realize offshore VHF data communication.
