Abstract

Dense and adherent Ti-6Al-4V (Ti64) coatings can be fabricated by cold spray (CS). To deposit Ti64 coatings on uneven surfaces of actual components via CS, the effect of different impact angles from 50 to 90° (with respect to the surface plane) has been investigated for deposition of spherical Ti64 powders on Al6061-T6 substrates using nitrogen as process gas. The development of the coating’s mass, thickness, porosity and residual stress with impact angles have been analyzed.
