Abstract

In this final chapter, we present a set of generalisable principles for future consideration in the design and implementation of open data policies and initiatives. We cover issues ranging from open data advocacy, literacy and fluency to the more practical aspects of policy framing, open data portal design and measuring social impact and return on investment. The chapter concludes with five key recommendations, which we argue could form the basis of a pragmatic re-thinking of open data practices within public sector contexts into the future.
