Abstract
The story began in the late 1990s with a visit I paid to the Pain Therapy Center of the University of Wűrzburg in Germany, directed by Professor Sprotte, who is familiar to everyone on account of the spinal needle he devised. He was treating cases of cervicobrachialgia, performing a stellate ganglion block with one-tenth of an ampoule of buprenorphine, further diluted with 7 ml of saline. The results were astonishing.
