Abstract
Oriented growth of MPMG processed YBCO superconductor has been performed for the purpose of obtaining large oriented grains and improving the levitation force. It was found that providing temperature gradients in two directions was effective in making large YBCO superconductors with controlled crystallographic orientation. When we applied the temperature gradients of 20C°/cm to the horizontal direction and 5C°/cm to the longitudinal direction, and then cooled down at a rate of 1C°/h from 1 000C° to 870C°, we could obtain a c-axis oriented bulk. The differences in levitation force between H//c-axis and H⊥c-axis are also discussed.
