Abstract
The effect of particle size of the melt-quenched amorphous starting powder, the composition of which was Bi:Sr:Ca:Cu=2:2:1:2, on the sintering behavior was studied to clarify the changes in microstructure during the partial melting process. The segregation of (Sr0.5Ca0.4)CuO2 phase in Bi-rich liquid phase proceeded during the partial melting. The segregation rate increased with decreasing the grain size of the starting powder. It is considered that the segregation rate is related to the melting rate, which can be controlled by the grain size.
