Zusammenfassung

Posttranskriptionale Modifikationen können zur Reduktion der Expression von Genen führen (PTGS, post-transcriptional gene silencing). Sie waren lange Zeit nur in Pflanzen durchführbar und wurden als unzureichend erklärbare Phänomene bezeichnet. Zu den Methoden des PTGS zählt auch die RNA-interference (RNAi). Doppelsträngige RNA (dsRNA) wird dabei in eine Zelle eingeschleust und führt so intrazellulär zum sequenzspezifischen Abbau der komplementären mRNA.
