Abstract
Charles Eugène Fabry naît le 16 octobre 1856 à Marseille dans une famille de moyenne bourgeoisie. Après des études à l’École polytechnique (1874-1876) et à l’École des manufactures de l’état, il débute une carrière d’ingénieur dans les manufactures de tabac à Châteauroux, puis à Marseille. En 1882, il est reçu à l’agrégation de mathématiques et enseigne alors les mathématiques dans les lycées de Tarbes, Carcassonne et Tours où il assure une suppléance en classe de mathématiques spéciales.
